Yorks off to a strong start with 3:37 in Portland

Izaic Yorks turned in a promising performance at the Portland Track Festival over the weekend, the Brooks Beast athlete clocking 3:37.13 to finish second in the men’s 1500m, his first of the season – the race was won by Craig Engels in 3:35.32.

Henry Wynne was in action in the men’s 800m, the Brooks Beast athlete sharpening his speed with a 1:47 .64 clocking. That brought him home in sixth, closely followed by fellow Kimbia athlete Amos Bartelsmeyer (1:47.87). The race was won by Josh Kerr in 1:46.06.

Josh Thompson was in action in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, but the Nike Bowerman Track Club athlete was well off his best with a clocking of 9:02.84.

Meanwhile at the US 10K Championships in New York, Jess Tonn impressed with an eighth-place finish, clocking 32:56. The race was won by Sara Hall in 32:27.
