Schweizer and Wynne stand out at Oxy


Karissa Schweizer and Henry Wynne impressed at the USATF Distance Classic at Occidental College, California on Thursday night. Schweizer, a Bowerman Track Club athlete, clocked a season’s best of 4:08.51 to finish second in section two of the women’s 1500m. Her fellow Kimbia athlete Elise Cranny finished 10th in 4:13.21. Steeplechase specialist Courtney Frerichs was an impressive winner of section 1 of the women’s 1500m in 4:15.96.

In the men’s 5000m, Henry Wynne stepped up and continued his great season to date, clocking 13:32.33 to finish third, just off his PB of 13:30.43.

There were three Kimbia athletes competing in the men’s 1500m. They were led home by Sean McGorty who clocked 3:38.75 to finish fifth in section 3. In the same race Lopez Lomong was seventh in 3:39.72. Fellow Bowerman Track Club athlete Josh Thompson was fourth in section two in 3:43.57.

Izaic Yorks was the sole Kimbia entrant in the men’s 800m, the Brooks Beast athlete clocking 1:48.22 to finish fifth.
