Lomong smashes 5K PR with 13:00.13

Lopez Lomong turned in a terrific performance in Portland on Tuesday night as he clocked 13:00.13 for 5000m to finish second to BTC teammate Woody Kincaid, taking almost eight seconds off his lifetime best.

The race was won by Kincaid in 12:58.10, with Olympic 1500m champion Matthew Centrowitz third in 13:00.39.

Lomong’s run continues his superb summer to date, in which the Bowerman Track Club athlete claimed the US titles over both 5,000m and 10,000m. He will be back in action at the World Championships in Doha later this month.
