It was a promising first day for the Kimbia crew at the US Championships in Eugene on Thursday, with Evan Jager, Henry Wynne, Josh Thompson and Karissa Schweizer all advancing to their respective finals.

Jager showed he is returning to top form by advancing with ease through his heat of the men’s 3000m steeplechase, clocking 8:23.57.

Thompson and Wynne were drawn in the same heat of the men’s 1500m and both came through, advancing to the final as non-automatic qualifiers in 3:39.17 and 3:39.25 respectively.

Schweizer secured an automatic qualifying spot in the women’s 1500m, clocking 4:14.80 to finish second in her heat, while Michaela Meyer finished eighth in her heat and did not advance.
