Infeld Wins in First-Ever Road Race

New discipline? No problem.

In her first time racing on the roads as a pro, Emily Infeld won the Wharf to Wharf Six-Miler in Capitola, California. The Georgetown graduate clocked a winning time of 30:51 to beat an international field, just two weeks after getting back to a full training load. The mark is the sixth-fastest in the event’s 41-year history, and led Infeld over a trio of road specialists: Almaze Fekade of Ethiopia, defending champion Risper Gesabwa of Kenya, and Stephanie Rothstein-Bruce, currently the #3 ranked American road racer of 2013.

The Santa Cruz Sentinel has a full report.

Meanwhile, teammate Chris Solinsky had a tough day at the office, losing contact with the lead pack early and coming home in tenth place. The Wisconsinite is scheduled to compete in Falmouth on August 11th.
