Heath Clocks 3000m PB in Dublin

On Wednesday, Elliott Heath notched a five-second personal best in the 3000 metres at the Morton Games in Dublin. His time of 7:45.26 slashed almost five seconds off his previous best of 7:50, a time set indoors earlier this year.

The 7:45 performance placed Heath second in the race behind Ben True and nine-ticks ahead of top American Bobby Curtis, and continues a string of summer-circuit personal bests for the Stanford grad: Heath ran 3:58.48 in Cork and  3:40.17 in Ninove, Belgium, earlier in July. Also, Wednesday’s performance stands as a massive improvement over the Minnesota native’s previous best for the outdoor 3000m, a mark of 8:09 from 2010. Now, each of Heath’s lifetime bests from 800m to 10,000m have come in 2011 or 2012… suggesting that continued improvement lies ahead.
