Fisher books Tokyo ticket with superb second place

Grant Fisher produced an outstanding run at the US Olympic Trials last night to book his place at his first Olympics, the 24-year-old finishing second in the 10,000m in 27:54.29. The race was won by Fisher’s Bowerman Track Club teammate Woody Kincaid. Lopez Lomong unfortunately called a halt to his race shortly before the halfway mark.

In the women’s 5000m heats, Kimbia’s Karissa Schweizer, Elise Cranny and Taylor Werner all advanced to the final, with Schweizer second in her heat in 15:32.63, Cranny just behind in third with 15:32.71, and Werner advancing on time after finishing sixth in the other heat in 15:39.98. The final takes place on Monday and we wish them the very best of luck.
