Grant Fisher and Marc Scott produced stunning performances at the BU Valentine meet in Boston on Saturday, with Fisher smashing the American indoor 5000m record, clocking 12:53.73, and Scott smashing the European indoor record, clocking 12:57.08.
They passed 3000m in 7:53 and unleashed a blazing final mile to enter the record books, with Fisher taking eight seconds off Galen Rupp’s record and Scott carving 11 seconds off the European record.
There was a host of strong runs from other Kimbia athletes, with Lopez Lomong finishing second in the second 5000m race, clocking 13:07.40, with Kieran Tuntivate third in 13:08.41, an Asian record, Sean McGorty fourth in 13:09.21 and Evan Jager sixth in 13:13.23.
Josh Thompson finished second in the 1500m, clocking 3:37.96, while Amos Bartelsmeyer was in action over 3000m, clocking 7:48.87.
