Cranny smashes American record

Elise Cranny produced an astonishing performance at the BU Valentine meeting in Boston on Friday night, smashing the US indoor women’s 5000m record by 14 seconds, clocking 14:33.17 to finish second behind Bowerman Track Club teammate Gabriela Debues-Stafford.

Cranny’s fellow Kimbia athlete Courtney Frerichs also had a huge run, finishing third in 14:48.75, an outright personal best by two seconds.

Recent signing Michaela Meyer was in action over a mile, the 800m specialist showing strong fitness by clocking an indoor PR of 4:29.64, which was just a fraction outside her outdoor best of 4:29.16.
