More about Charles Kibiwott:
From the age of six until he was 16 years old, Charles Kibiwott was running to school. The distance was not far, but since he was coming home for lunch he covered eight kilometers per day. Like many Kenyans this was probably a foundation for his future career. But Charles didn't have aspirations of being a runner. “I always liked doing sports,” Charles says. "Soccer was my favorite." He played soccer for many years as a midfielder and forward.
“Then my school friends introduced me to running.” Those friends were Peter Chebet, Ben Maiyo, and Benjamin Limo.
After finishing secondary school Charles Kibiwott did not start running seriously until he was 24 years old. Then things progressed quickly. He's currently married and has four children.
