About

KIMbia represents some of the best distance runners in the world. Our athletes compete at the highest level of the sport, winning Major Marathons and National Championships, and taking home medals at the World Championships and Olympic Games.

Tom Ratcliffe and Dieter Hogen started KIMbia Athletics shortly after the untimely death of Kim McDonald. Kimbia is the Swahili word meaning “to run.” The selection of this name is both an acknowledgement of the impact Kenyan runners have had on international athletics, as well as serving to continue the legacy of the late Kim McDonald. His name as well as his philosophy live on at KIMbia Athletics.

We first told that story through chasingKIMBIA – an innovative blogumentary documenting the lifestyle and training of our marathon group – which utilized new media in a way that had never been done before in running. It also gave us a platform to promote the KIMbia Foundation, which supports several education projects in Kenya. Since then, we have expanded our storytelling with projects both domestic (The Madison Project, In Carney Nation) and international (Wisconsin to Worlds, Rookies Vs. the World, Delilah, The British Miler), and from the web to television.

We believe a sport exists outside the arena, wherever it is watched, discussed, and pursued. Our goal, as always, is to bring athletes and fans together in a more perfect union.. and bring athletics to life.

WHAT WE DO

We help our athletes maximize their talents, maximize their performances, and maximize their earnings, each in turn. Whether organizing training camps, planning travel, or assisting with a competition schedule, we utilize decades of experience and expertise to help our athletes pursue achievement.

Then, we set about to make our athletes highly visible with placements in industry-leading media outlets.  And we go where no athletics agency has gone before by self-producing professional multimedia that bring sports personalities to life.

It’s all in service in connecting athletes, events, brands, and fans. To that end, we strive to be engaged in telling the stories you — the athletics enthusiasts — want to hear.

Welcome to KIMbia. Join the conversation.
