11-Time All-American Emily Infeld Joins KIMbia

Eleven times an All-American, Georgetown Hoya and NCAA Champion Emily Infeld is joining the ranks of KIMbia Athletics.

The Ohio native enjoyed a sterling senior season in which she went undefeated at 3000 metres, winning the Valentine Invitational and Big East Championship, before topping things off with her first individual NCAA title. In addition to a PB — and Georgetown record — of 9:00.13 in that event, Infeld carries a lifetime best of 4:07.77 in the 1500 and demonstrated her aptitude at that distance throughout 2012 — a Big East title in the mile indoors, a conference runner-up finish in the 1500 outdoors, and an NCAA runner-up finish in the 1500 in Des Moines.

However, her best performance yet might have come later in the summer when she stepped up in distance at the US Olympic Trials, making the 5000m final, before setting a new Georgetown school record of 15:28.60 — good for an 8th-place finish in her first national championship at that distance. Her abilities beyond the mile had already been well documented, though, after previously finishing as NCAA runner-up in the 5000 (outdoors, 2011) and cross country (2010). In 2011, she placed fourth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships to lead Georgetown to the team title. Those, on the heels of an eighth-place finish as a sophomore in 2009, made her one of the few athletes to be a three-time Top-10 finisher in one of the deepest races in America.

Prior to coming to Georgetown, Infeld was national high school runner-up in the mile as a junior, before coming back to win the title her senior season.

Infeld will join her fellow Hoya alum Andrew Bumbalough and the rest of his training group in Portland, under the tutelage of Coach Jerry Schumacher.
